GDW Analysis:
Cullman senior Kaye Cost completed a good tour in this year's Bert McGriff Invitational.
The senior went from a first round  of 5 over par 77 at Terri Pines to a 1under par 71 Tuesday at Cross Creek and nailed down the individual crown.
Cost fought off Mallory Brooks of Southside Gadsden, Morgan Maddox of Homewood and Aubrie Payne of Hewitt Trussville.
Cost carded a 2 day score of 4 over 148, Brooks and Maddox were two shots back with a 150 and Payne three behind the winner, scoring a two day tally of 151.
Hewitt got the team championship with a 36 hole score of 456. The Huskies led with a 237 after the first round and went to Cross Creek Tuesday, lowering their team score with a 219.
The Huskies soared to the crown, well ahead of runner up Oak Mountain from the Birmingham area. The Eagles earned a 495.
In 3rd place, was Vestavia with a 515.
Cullman County tournament champion West Point Lady Warriors claimed the 4th lowest tally, a 526.
Cullman was in 5th place, 3 shots back of West Point at 529.
Bob Jones took 6th with a 540, Muscle Shoals 7th at 579, Fort Payne 8th with a 589, Southside 9th at 590 and Homewood 10th overall with a 599.
For West Point, county tournament champion Brooklyn Sutter shot an 83 on Monday and an 80 on Tuesday for a 2 day score of 163.
Charli Aris was next with a 181 and Allie Freeman a 186. The Lady Warriors final 18 score was 252, much lower than the 274 they shot in the first round.
Cullman got a 178 by Jazmin Conn and a 203 from Saddie Graham to join Cost's 148 for their team tally. After a 273 on Monday, the Lady 'Cats answered with a better final round, compiling a 256.
Each team that was in the Top 10, had a lower score from Cross Creek than at the country club.
Bob Jones made great strides in going from 288 to a 252 in the final round.
West Point shooting 22 shots lower was a good sign for the county tournament champion.
A first round score of 386 by Scottsboro was lowered to a 302 in the last round.
Muscle Shoals made a good move from a first round 306 to a final round of 273.
Sixteen teams took part in the annual event, honoring the late Bert McGriff who was an impact in the local business industry for a very long time.
