12:20PM 1:00PM Cullman County DHR/Angela R Stephens Ribbon Cuttin   It only takes a few people to care to make a difference in the lives of children and families. This has been illustrated through Willem Brink and Emily Bouzan who helped start The Angela R. Stephens Foundation. The Angela R. Stephens Foundation was started to establish honor to their daughter in law, who tragically died in a car accident in 2011 leaving two children without a mother. The Foundation has already helped more than 20 foster children. Presently the Foundation has through monetary and physical labors of love have made a more comfortable and inviting visitation rooms for children who are in foster care to be able to visit with their parents and family. Because the founders, (Emily Bouzan and Willem Brink) and Tiffany Harris (board member and sister to Angela R. Stephens) realized the importance of parents and family in the lives children, Cullman County DHR now has newly renovated play rooms that sends the message to children and families that they are important and encourages interaction between the children and their parents during visitation. Each room was done in a theme. There is a play room done in a Jungle theme with interactive games for small children and their parents. There is a family room with games, couch, lamps etc, where the family can feel a “home-like” setting to sit and talk. Although the ribbon cutting is scheduled for June 5th with Senator Paul Bussman and with other key community leaders, the rooms have already left behind an important message that one child left on the easel, simply saying, “I love you, mommy.” The Ribbon Cutting and Reception is scheduled for Wednesday, June 5th at 12:30 at Cullman County Department of Human Resources with a reception following immediately. Members of the Media and others are invited to attend. For additional information please visit the website at www.AngelaRStephensFoundation.org or email me at angelarstephensfoundation@aol.com
