GDW softball, baseball spotlight week of April 21:


Softball:
Cabri Blackwood, Macie Brown, Katie Beth Yovino, Kortni Baker of West Point.
The 4 seniors enjoyed their final game at Mike Brown Field April 24, getting honored before the game and then helping West Point shut out Cold Springs 15 to 0.
Baker was the winning pitcher, going the distance to get a shutout of a county rival.
Blackwood, Brown and Yovino showed efforts in hitting and defense.
The victory gave West Point momentum going into the 5A, Area 14 playoffs over the weekend at Lawrence County High School in Moulton.

Baseball:
Chad Reynolds of Vinemont:
Reynolds delivered a clutch hit to break open the 1st game of the Eagles 2nd round playoff series Saturday at Phil Campbell.
Reynolds stroke a double, driving in three runs that sent the Eagles up 11 to 0 heading into the bottom of the 3rd.
Reynolds' three RBIs was tops with Vinemont winning Game 1 of this 3A series at the home of the Bobcats, 12 to 2.
Reynolds produced a couple of hits and scored a run in Game 2. Phil Campbell came back to take it 9 to 5 and force the series to a tiebreaker to be played at Phil Campbell Monday at 4:30.
The Eagles have earned 25 wins against 10 losses in trying to move from Round 2 to the quarterfinals with a victory on Monday.
