GDW Analysis:
Cold Springs continues to set its tone of being an astounding AHSAA track and field program in Class 2A.
Another blue championship trophy will be placed inside the campus on Monday, two days after the Eagles won the state championship from Mark Britton Field/Oliver Woodard Stadium at Cullman HS.
Cold Springs soared into first place once the meet began and had the rest of the field trying to catch them, but never could.
After having 37 points and a comfortable lead through 5 events Friday, the Eagles maintained the edge, scoring 57 in Saturday's running and field events to take down 94 points.
Reeltown was a distant 2nd at 60 and Cold Springs' county rival, claimed 3rd by scoring 58 points.
Once again, the tone of greatness for Casey Howell's Eagles came from the legs of senior Ethan Edgeworth.
Edgeworth, who blazed a trail with a record time of 4:03.96 in the 1,600 meter Friday, stormed to the title in the 3,200 and 800 meter Saturday. His time in the 3,200 was 9:20.08 and a time of 1:53.31 in his final meet of his high school career, the 200.
Nic Fallin earned a pair of championships in field events. Fallin won the long jump with a distance of 21-04.75. His pole vault performance was 21-04.75 in beating out the competition.
The 4 X 800 relay ran to the championship with a time of 8:28.77.
For Holly Pond, the Broncos got an individual crown from Daniel Figueroa in the 100 Meter Ambulatory at 14.96, the 200 Meter Ambulatory at 28.88, 1st in the Ambulatory Discus at 65-07 and first in the Ambulatory, 89-06.
Emery Barnett earned championship honors in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 39.41,
Cold Springs brought confidence and momentum to Cullman, following victory in their sectional meet from Winfield the previous weekend. The Lady Eagles were 2nd.
Holly Pond had been on a superior high for winning both sectionals they were part of last weekend at Fort Payne.
Vinemont's teams got into the championship round for 4th place finishes from the 3A sectionals last weekend in Winfield.
