Friday schedule halted by storms near Cullman High School:

GDW Analysis:
 
A couple of thunderstorms were strong enough to cause havoc in day one of the AHSAA 1A, 2A, 3A track meet from Cullman High School.
Lightning was seen by AHSAA officials around 3:20 p.m. Friday. causing a weather delay.
The delay was reported for 1 hour, 27 minutes.

 At 4:50 p.m., the 4 X 800 relays in each class and each division resumed.
At 6:00 p.m., another line of storms was not far from Mark Britton Field/Oliver Woodard Stadium as the 200 meter dash runs were postponed.
The AHSAA decided to concede to the weather and to resume it on Saturday.
As of 6:45 p.m. Friday, no update on the AHSAA had been reported when the 200 meter runs would go.
Through 5 events, Cold Springs was right in a position they are accustomed to. First place in their class.
The Eagles had 37 points to lead the 2A field with Hatton 2nd at 14 and the Holly Pond Broncos 3rd with 13.
Cold Springs' Ethan Edgeworth stood out as he dominated the 1,600 meter run and set a record with a time of 4:03.96.
He ran the first lap in less than a minute and was well ahead of the rest of the competition in this race.
Winterboro is on top of 1A with 55 points, Marion County 37 and Faith Christian 28.
From Class 3A, Winfield is just ahead of Madison Academy 33 points to 32. WS Neal has 3rd place at 24.
On the girls side, Marion County is running away in the 1A field at 58, Marengo 2nd at 20 and Cedar Bluff 17.
The 2A standings is currently led by Whitesburg Christian with 40, Francis Marion 24 and Sand Rock 16 points.
Class 3A girls has Houston Academy on top of Fayette County 31 to 30 with Westminster Oak Mountain right behind in 3rd at 28 points.
The running events are scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, pending on the decision by the AHSAA.
