Good Hope is the best defense in Class 4A, allowing the opposition 3.1 points a game. Only 19 points have been scored against the Raiders.
Good Hope has not allowed a TD vs. them in the last 3 games. Last week Curry kicked a 45-yard FG in the 2nd quarter for its only score of the contest.
Hamilton has put 275 points on the board in 6 games, netting 45.8 per contest. The Aggies are 2nd in Class 4A in scoring offense.
The Aggies have recorded 55, 40, 48, 48, 42 and 42 vs. Phil Campbell, Cordova, Dora, Curry, Sulligent and Fultondale. Losses to Dora in Game 3 and Fultondale in 6th game.
Coach Alan Scott is aware of the scoring potential by the visitors from Marion County.
A key to the Raiders will be not letting the Aggies do it with big time plays.
Scott told Gameday Weekly Hamilton is young with a series of sophomores making the team go.
Time consuming drives will be something the Raiders will look to utilize in order to keep the Hamilton offense on the sideline.
Good Hope is back to winning football.
After a 3 & 7 record in 2023 that denied them a playoff berth for the first time since 2017, Good Hope opened the fall season with a jamboree at Fyffe August 23.
That evening the Raiders were defeated via a shutout to the 3A power from Dekalb County.
The Raiders then held West Point to a FG and scored 3 times in the 2nd half for their first win.
The Raiders then held Fultondale to one score and won in their home opener 7 to 6.
A good showing at Haleyville on a wet Friday the 13th followed, then a shutout of Cordova and Addison and the one sided win last Friday at Curry.
Since 2018, Raider football has seen victory in 52 games with just 24 losses. The six victories this season has passed the last two years of 3 in 2023 and 5 in the 2022 schedule.
A victory against Hamilton would put the Raiders back into the 4A postseason.
Good Hope has regional games left with Hamilton, at Fayette Co the 18th and vs. Dora on the home field the 25th.
The rest of the regional schedule for Friday has Cordova at Dora, Curry at Fayette Co and Fultondale visiting Haleyville.
