ADDISON: Addison has hired a new football coach that is known to them for coming from a rival school in Winston County.
Mark Hastings takes over Addison football following 4 years not far from this school, coaching the Lynn Bears to great success.
Hastings led Lynn to 34 wins against 14 losses from 2021 to 2024.
The previous season was 11 & 2 with Lynn getting to the quarterfinal round in Class 1A.
Hastings replaces David Smothers who was at the helm from 2012 to last season. Smothers compiled 104 victories in 150 games. Addison went 64 & 19 in regional play and participated in 22 playoff games under his command.
Addison slumped to 6 wins and 5 losses in 2024. The Bulldogs were defeated by county rivals Winston County and Meek. Addison was also defeated by the Good Hope Raiders 27 to 0 on September 27 at James Shabel Stadium.
Addison competes in Region 7 of Class 1A.
The Bulldogs will have Good Hope visiting AG Hicks Stadium in late September.
Intensity comes at a higher rate for Addison and Lynn.
The two schools meet one another in the quarterfinals of the AHSAA baseball playoffs this weekend. The series will be played in Addison.
Game 1 and Game 2 is Thursday at 4:30/6:30 p.m.
Game 3 would be played on Friday at 4:30.
Addison has been good on the diamond this year with 25 wins against 9 losses and a No. 3 state ranking in its class.
Lynn has 20 wins out of 30 decisions.
