A difficult 1st night of February for local prep basketball:

GDW Analysis:
Local basketball had only two to be a winner in semifinal play Saturday evening.
Four schools saw their season end with defeat.
Three teams were idle from playing on the 1st of February. Vinemont was knocked out of the playoffs Thursday in a 44 to 33 loss to Hanceville.
West Point 68, Lawrence Co 56:
RUSSELLVILLE: West Point went to Franklin County Saturday evening, outscoring Lawrence County by a dozen.
The Warriors now have 20 wins on the season in 27 games.
Up next: West Point at Russellville Tuesday 6:00 p.m. for the 5A, Area 15 championship.
JB Pennington 32, Holly Pond 31:
LOCUST FORK: Holly Pond suffered a low scoring heartbreaking loss to the JB Pennington Tigers.
After reaching the Cullman County championship last Saturday, the Broncos lost their last four games and finish the season at 13 & 16.
Locust Fork 81, Hanceville 46:
LOCUST FORK: Hanceville was not able to slow down a potent Locust Fork Hornet group and see the season end in the 3A, Area 11 semifinals.
The Bulldogs finish with 9 wins vs. 17 losses.
Addison 64, St. Bernard 18:
ADDISON: No. 1 seed Addison had no trouble with St. Bernard in the 1A, Area 14 semifinal from Alex Stephenson Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs have won 15 in a row for rookie coach Triston Chambers.
Addison is now 18 & 6 on the season.
Meek 70, Cullman Christian 21:
ADDISON: Addison's friendly foe from Arley, the Meek Tigers blistered Cullman Christian to set up a Winston County clash for the 1A, Area 14 title Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
Arab 67, Fairview 29 (G):
SCOTTSBORO: Fairview was defeated in a large margin Saturday evening in 5A, Area 14 play at Scottsboro High School.
The Lady Aggies finish with a winning season of 16 wins over 15 losses. An improvement after 7 wins in 2023/24 with Chris Nichols completing his 2nd year coaching the team.
