All star rivals take 2024 match to five games in Montgomery:

MONTGOMERY: Excitement filled the Cramton Bowl Multiplex Thursday afternoon in the AHSAA volleyball all star series.
In two hours and 9 minutes, the North and South went after one another as each set was very close.
It would go into five games with the North winning the match by taking the tiebreaker 15 to 9.
The 2024 edition of the mid summer classic had the South on top after the first set in a tight 25 to 23 triumph.
Team North managed to make enough on the positive side and win the next two sets, 26 to 24 and 25 to 23.
The South was not going to let the North take the match without regaining momentum. In the fourth set, the South edged the North 25 to 23.
Four games with the winner coming out on top by two points in each assignment.
In the 5th set, the South went ahead early then the North got things going, moved ahead and finished off its all star rival by the final of 15 to 9.
For the North, Lauren Buchanan and Kennedy Vaughn led the group in kills with 13 each.
Jasmine Terry provided 10 and Keara Bowen tallied 9.
Setting up the attackers were Riley Lovell with 26 and Cooper Garrett with 23. Playing well on the back line in leading the North with digs was Sydney Durbam with 16.
The top attacker on the South side, Elle McBride had 12 kills.
Team North leads the all time series with 15 victories to 10 for the South. The South was a winner last year three games to one.
Coaching the North was Jenny Jarrett of Bob Jones and Whitney Welch of Alexandria.
With North claiming victory in volleyball, the North all stars were superior in 2024 All Star Sports with 9 wins, 2 losses and a tie.
Game 2 of baseball was rained out on Monday and the tennis match got interrupted by rain on Tuesday.
