GDW Analysis:
Cullman County Board of Education (CCBOE) presented its meeting for August Thursday from the conference room.
The new school year is a week old as Superintendent Shane Barnette reported a smooth start with all schools that are sanctioned by the CCBOE.
Gameday Weekly attended the meeting to get the latest athletic report through the school board.
The following was approved by the CCBOE on Thursday:
Approval of 2023/24 non faculty coaches upon requirements as per board athletic regulations.
Approval of 2024/25 non faculty coaches upon requirements as per board athletic regulations.
Approval of request to pay Jessica Gorham, Cortney Myrex, Charles Nelson, Chandler Nunn and Leah Sapp $100 per game for assisting in production of live streaming football games, paid by sponsorship revenues.
Approval of request from Good Hope High School to pay Griffin Morris $600 for summer basketball duties, paid by local school funds.
Approval of request from Good Hope High School to pay Patrick McDonald $700 for girls basketball summer workouts and $700 for volleyball summer workouts, paid by local school funds.
Approval of request from Hanceville High School to pay David Miller $60 as public address announcer of 3 middle school football games and $100 for 6 varsity football games, paid by local school funds.
Approval of request from Vinemont High School to pay extra work with Vinemont basketball, through local school funds. Preston Boyd, was to receive $1,120, Lance Lay $1,105 and Michael Williams $1,070.
Approval of request from West Point High School to pay Drew Bryson $1,500 for summer mowing of the softball facility, paid through local funds.
Approval of request from West Point High School to pay Drew Bryson $1,500 for summer mowing of the baseball facility, paid through local funds.
Approval of request from West Point High School to pay Nicholas Adam Thompson $1,500 for summer mowing of the football field, paid through local funds.
Approval of request from Good Hope High School for out of state field trip. This is for the girls and varsity basketball teams in playing at a Christmas tournament December 26 in Destin, Florida.
Approval of the 2024/25 student handbook that is available on the board's website.
The next meeting for the school board will be September 12 at 3:30 p.m. from the conference room.
