GDW Analysis:
BOULDER, Colorado: Cold Springs' outstanding track and cross country runner Ethan Edgeworth has changed where he will be running collegiately.
According to a report by the Cold Springs' Runners Club on Facebook Friday, Edgeworth will now be a runner with the University of Colorado.
This is due to coach Sean Carlson leaving the University of Tennessee and now is at Colorado.
Carlson was officially named director of track and cross country for Colorado on July 25.
Carlson recruited Edgeworth strongly in the past two years while coaching at Tennessee.
Edgeworth finished a fantastic career at Cold Springs back in May as the Eagles won their 2nd consecutive AHSAA state outdoor championship from Mark Britton Field/Oliver Woodard Stadium at Cullman High School.
In the state finals in the 1,600 meter, Edgeworth blazed a trail to the championship with a time of just over 4:00. That established a record of all classifications in the AHSAA.
Edgeworth contributed to the Eagles in his senior year as state champions in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track.
Edgeworth was named the AHSAA runner of the year.
He also earned honors as MVP of the Cullman County track championship, held in April at Fairview's Dafford Smith Stadium.
Carlson will oversee all aspects of the cross country and track program for Colorado as they enter their first season a member of the Big XII Conference.
Edgeworth was selected as the top male athlete by Gameday Weekly for the 2023/24 season.
