GDW Analysis:
Cullman volleyball entered a Thursday assignment vs. Bob Jones with an .833 winning percentage from Bearcat Arena.
Bob Jones' resume was a No. 2 ranking currently in Class 7A along with an .820 clip for the entire season of 32 wins out of 39 decisions.
Cullman fought hard throughout the match, but could not put together a complete situation, Bob Jones left Bearcat Arena in a sweep of the Lady 'Cats 25 to 14, 25 to 20 and 25 to 17.
The match lasted 1 hour, 15 minutes.
Amy Hudson's Lady 'Cats lost for the 2nd time at Bearcat Arena in 7 decisions in her first season. This was the first time an opponent had denied the Lady 'Cats victory in set play.
Cullman dealt with a Bob Jones team that showed strong play from attacking the net.
The Lady 'Cats had their moments too but fell behind early in the opening set and had to work to a strong will in trying to stay in contention.
Providing sound efforts for Cullman when they were given a chance to hammer from the front row was Blakely Brannon, Ava Ray, Karina Harris and Clementine Hollingsworth.
Others that delivered in a series of runs were AK Granger, Olivia Dover, JerrieSue Godbee, Lily Nixon and Livy Smith.
The best chance for a Cullman victory was in the 2nd set. They held their own until a late spurt from the Lady Patriots put them on top and enroute to a 25 to 20 decision.
In the finale, Bob Jones jumped on Cullman immediately. Down but not out, the Lady 'Cats challenged them before the Lady Patriots completed the sweep at 7:45 p.m.
Under analysis by GDW, Kennedy Vaughn stood out for Bob Jones in being solid on the front row. Giving her support to produce when asked upon by coach Jenny Jarrett was Mya Lacey and Kendall Buckley.
The Lady 'Cats dropped to 10 & 14 for the season. Cullman's week on the court has seen them with close losses to No. 2 Addison from the 1A poll, a sweep of Meek and a loss earlier in the week at Springville.
Hudson's squad heads to an event at Supreme Courts in Guntersville on Saturday.
More time on the road awaits Cullman to begin the October schedule. The Lady 'Cats are at Hazel Green on the 1st and next Thursday, a 6A, Area 11 rematch at Jasper.
Jasper defeated Cullman 3 games to 1 on September 17 at Bearcat Arena. Jasper leads the area with Cullman a game behind in the standings.
The next time the Lady 'Cats play at Bearcat Arena will be October 7 vs. the Danville Lady Hawks at 6:00 p.m.
