GDW prep football team spotlight from Week 1:
Cold Springs Eagles: Cold Springs enjoyed opening night of the AHSAA football season with a 48 to 30 victory over county foe Hanceville from Ray Talley Stadium.

The Eagles scored the most points by a team in the Gameday Weekly coverage area on August 23.
Cold Springs controlled the game by scoring four times in the 4th quarter after they were holding on to a 20 to 18 advantage.
The Eagles and Bulldogs were playing each other for the first time since 2017.
Cold Springs snapped a three game losing streak to Hanceville and has now won the season opener in three consecutive years under current coach Brendan Voce.

GDW player spotlight from Week 1:
Matt Williams of the Cold Springs Eagles: Williams ran his way to an impressive Friday evening in Hanceville with 201 yards and three touchdowns.
Williams raced to a TD covering 77 yards in the third quarter, his longest of the game.
Williams made an impact for his team in how the Eagles executed the ground attack in having the best performance locally to open the 2024 season.
Now the Eagles look to this week in a trip to Walker County to take on the Curry Yellow Jackets.
Kickoff for the contest Friday will be at 7:00 p.m.
