GDW spring sports report from Tuesday:
BB: Vinemont 12 to 5 over JB Pennington Vinemont 10 to 9 over JB Pennington BLOUNTSVILLE: Vinemont Eagles regrouped Tuesday in sweeping 3A, Area 12 for JB Pennington on the road. The Eagles win the series by the sweep after they lost to the Tigers Monday at Mike Cupp Field 7 to 4 in the opener. Hunter Cornelius' Eagles are 13 & 4 on the season and 3 & 1 in the area. BB:West Point 8 to 2 over Hayden WEST POINT: West Point used a 6 run 4th inning to overcome a 2 to 0 deficit and added a pair of runs to their side of the scoreboard in the 5th in defeating the Hayden Wildcats on the home diamond. The victory was career win No. 101 for West Point's Drew Bryson. The Warriors gave him his 100th victory last Friday in a 5 to 0 shutout of the Curry Yellow Jackets. West Point has a big county game at home Wednesday against the Fairview Aggies. First place is hanging in the balance. The game will begin at 4:30 p.m. BB: Hartselle over Cullman 12 to 2 HARTSELLE: Cullman Bearcats were in contention with arch rival Hartselle Tuesday at Sparkman Park until the Tigers got control of the contest by the 4th inning. Four runs came home for the Tigers to move the lead to 7 to 2. A 5 run tally in the 5th ended the game via the run rule. BB: Albertville over Fairview 12 to 6 BB: Oneonta over Holly Pond 8 to 0 SB: Hanceville over Holly Pond 11 to 0 SB: Lawrence County over West Point 16 to 2 SB: Sumiton Christian over Cold Springs 12 to 2 SB: Danville at Vinemont no report SB: Scottsboro at Cullman no report
