GDW weekly team and player spotlight:
Middle school division:
Team: West Point Warriors
Player: Tripp Dingler of West Point.
West Point completes the middle school season as Cullman County champions and winners of 19 out of 21 games.
To earn the top prize, West Point had to overcome a 17 to 12 halftime deficit in the championship against No. 3 seed Cold Springs.
The Warriors had 28 points on their side of their scoreboard in the final half and allowed Cold Springs 10 points for a 40 to 27 triumph.
Tyler White's Warriors did not lose against a county foe in seeding play and took down Hanceville, Fairview and Cold Springs last week from Joe Shults Gymnasium.
Dingler carried the Warriors on his shoulders in the title bout with 11 second half points, 15 in total and 7 in the 4th to secure victory.
Middle school girls division:
Team: Fairview Lady Aggies
Player: Arleigh Harris of Fairview
Entering the tournament as the 2nd seed, Fairview went from quarterfinals to semifinals to the championship displaying team basketball.
Dealing with No. 1 Cold Springs in the title game, Fairview led 12 to 10 after the first, 19 to 14 at the half and 27 to 23 going into the 4th.
Shooting 66 percent from the line in the 4th plus 2 FGs and a three enabled Matt Combs' Lady Aggies to wrap up a hard fought outing.
Harris, the post player for Fairview, was effective in the paint with five FGs, hit one trey and scored a point from the line to have 14 in the championship.
She was the go to factor in the 2nd half with 12 points. Her trey in the 4th was huge with Fairview having an 11 to 4 edge on Cold Springs scoring wise.
