MONTGOMERY: Good Hope senior Landon Bagwell was honored Monday evening during the 40th edition of the Bryant Jordan student athlete awards banquet.
Bagwell was selected the Region 7 winner in Class 4A in the achievement award category.
The Good Hope athlete was part of the agenda along with family & friends. Also attending the event for showing support was Good Hope football coach Alan Scott and principal Scott Brown.
Bagwell was well known for his ability on the gridiron.
He was selected the most outstanding defensive player of the 2024 season by the Cullman County football coaches.
Bagwell was recognized by Gameday Weekly as its top defensive performer.

His impact from the defensive side propelled Good Hope to 10 wins in 12 games, the 4A, Region 5 championship and a berth to the 2nd round of the AHSAA playoffs.
Bagwell was mentioned on a regular basis in Good Hope games carried on WKUL FM (92.1) from Game of the Week play by play voice Rich Jesse and analyst Pete Kirby.
On October 25 at James Shabel Stadium, Bagwell had a 70 yard fumble return for a touchdown that was huge for the Raiders to defeat Dora 47 to 28 and win the regional championship.
Bagwell anchored a defense that yielded just 37 points through its first 8 games of the regular season. Good Hope had two shutouts, held two other teams to a field goal and three other opponents to one TD.

St. Bernard student athlete Madilyn Kerber was the winner in Region 7 of Class 1A.
Kerber competes in cross country and track for the prep school.

The 40th edition of the Bryant Jordan student athlete banquet honored 104 students statewide with over $500,000 financially being distributed to these student athletes.
