Good Hope SB wins early season showdown from West Point:

Lady Raiders 3 & 0 in county, West Point falls to 1 & 1:

GDW Analysis:
  WEST POINT: Good Hope and West Point softball endured a pitcher's duel for the first 4 innings Monday from Mike Brown Field.
Then Good Hope's bats were able to execute in the late innings, take a 7 to 1 victory and remain undefeated in Cullman County softball at 3 & 0.
Good Hope is 5-4-1 for the season. West Point slipped to 4 & 4 and 1 & 1 in county play.
Starting pitchers Molly Benefield for Good Hope and Kara Jones of West Point went to war against one another as both had 1 hit shutouts following the 4th.
Benefield had 8 strikeouts once the 4th ended with Jones putting down 4 via the K route.

 In the 5th, Good Hope got a run in on a single to right by Brooklyn Lambert, scoring Natalie Miller who led off the inning with a double.
A double from Lizzy Steed drove home Addyson Burgess and a 2 to 0 lead for the visitors.
Miller laced a single in the 6th scoring Campbell Koch and a run batted in groundout by Kylee Smith sent in Haley Lay to extend the lead to 4 to 0.
Benefield was working on a two hitter when she stepped into the circle for the 6th.
West Point managed to cut the margin to 4 to 1 on a triple by Katie Beth Yovino and a run scoring single by Macie Brown.
Run scoring singles in the 7th from Steed, Maggie O'Neal and Koch accounted for insurance runs to send the Lady Raiders into the bottom of the inning with a 7 to 1 advantage.
Benefield went the distance as she struck out the last 2 West Point hitters, finishing with 13 strikeouts, allowing 1 run on 3 hits.
The game was played in 1 hour, 44 minutes ending at 6:09 p.m. CST.
  No extracurricular activities for Tuesday:
  All after school events Tuesday in the Cullman County school system have been postponed due to the threat of severe weather.
Gameday Weekly was advised of that while covering the Good Hope at West Point SB game Monday evening.
Good Hope's next game in softball is Thursday at Fairview at 4:30 p.m.
The next time for West Point SB will be next Monday at 3:00 p.m. from Cold Springs.
