GDW Analysis:
HANCEVILLE: Hanceville High School is now in search of a girls' basketball coach following the resignation of Christina Watson.
Watson stepped down from her position Tuesday, according to information provided to Gameday Weekly.
The vacancy has been posted in the classified section of the AHSAA website
Watson took over Hanceville in 2022 after Tin Bellmon resigned.
The 2024/25 Lady Bulldogs earned 9 victories in 24 games and appeared to be moving upward under Watson's direction.
Hanceville did not lose a player to graduation from its recent season.
The Lady Bulldogs were competitive with good performances coming regularly by sisters Aayliah Twitty and Alex Twitty.
Aayliah will be a senior in 2025/26 with Alex a year behind as a junior.
Shooting guards Mattie Keith, Mckenzie Aaron and Kynzlee Farr will go into their sophomore season while Piper Butts and Josi Jones will be junior guards.
Kerrigon Moore plays in the post and will be a sophomore as Hanceville will field an experience, but still young lineup for the new season.
Hanceville competes in 3A, Area 11 with county foes Holly Pond and Vinemont and Blount County schools JB Pennington and Locust Fork.
The deadline to apply for the position will be at the end of April.
Those interested in applying can contact principal Daniel Wakefield via email

Hanceville will be the 3rd local girls' program with a new coach for next season, joining Cullman who recently hired Tammy West and Paige Adams, who took over for West at Cold Springs.
