TRINITY: Holly Pond Lady Broncos were much healthier Monday in the West Morgan Classic than they were on Friday.
The Lady Broncos managed to defeat Rogers 45 to 39 on Friday with three starters unable to play from flu like symptoms.
Monday, the regulars were back on the floor and a good 2nd period enabled Holly Pond to control the battle with Lexington, defeating the Lady Bears 47 to 35.
Holly Pond goes into January with 13 victories out of 18 decisions and currently No. 7 in the state 3A poll.
Gameday Weekly got to see Mary Hartline's squad Monday as they went to work with a 13 point run after Lexington had tied the score early in the 2nd at 13 to 13.
Threes from Madison Butts, Alaina Phillips and Maggie Nail set the tone for the Lady Broncos to go up at halftime 26 to 13.
Not a lot scoring came from either side in the 2nd half. Holly Pond tallied 12 in the 3rd and 9 in the 4th.
Lexington got 15 on the board for the 3rd, but managed 7 in the 4th on 1 FG and 4 FTs.
Ava Thomas would deliver 15 in this victory by netting 7 in the 1st half, 7 in the 3rd and a point in the final period.

Games were played on Friday and Monday. The Saturday schedule was unable to go due to the concern of severe weather for the area. The schedule was called off.
Better conditions on Monday outside allowed the classic to use two gyms and provide very competitive hoops with the 2nd half of the 2024/25 season to begin later this week.
