HANCEVILLE: Individually, Mars Hill freshman Belle Hill thrilled the crowd Wednesday afternoon at Tom Drake Coliseum with a 43 point outing vs. Lauderdale County in the Northwest Regional 3A semifinal.
However, team wise, Lauderdale County shined than their foe, a final score of 65 to 39.
Hill would control the box score on 17 of 29 shooting, 2 of 2 treys and 7 of 10 from the FT line.
Lauderdale County has a weapon too, senior Shila Marks.
The shooting guard was outstanding with 39 points, making 14 of 17 FGs and was 8 of 8 from the line.
The rest of her team accounted for 26 points with Sarah Smith scoring 8, Kenzie Mobley 7, Meredith Newton 5, Ansley Shelton 3, Adeline Dickerson 2 and Armani Thomas 1.
For Mars Hill aside from Hill, Molly Wright scored 8, Kadence Rolston 5, Briley Durham 3.
Lauderdale was ahead 17 to 15 after the 1st, scoring a three as time ran out.
The Lady Tigers led 34 to 29 at the half and 52 to 46 following play in the 3rd.
No. 1 Lauderdale County is now 31 & 1. Mars Hill, up in 3A this year, finishes at 20 & 8.
Mars Hill won the 2A regional title last year in defeating Decatur Heritage at Wallace State.
