GDW volleyball spotlight for the week:
Good Hope Middle School Lady Raiders: Cullman County champions for 2024, the Lady Raiders took center stage last Saturday from Felton Easterwood Gym in Holly Pond, winning three assignments on
the day.
The No. 1 seed from the regular schedule swept Hanceville in the quarterfinals, Fairview in the semifinals and defeated 2nd seed West Point in the title match 25 to 16 and 25 to 22.
Good Hope was a middle school group that played often in a limited time.
The squad went to a series of tournaments each weekend and came into the county tournament off a pair of wins two days prior from Cullman Middle School.
Tiffany Hinkle Pope's Lady Raiders finished the year with 41 victories and only 3 losses. The winning percentage by the Lady Raiders, an impressive clip of .931.
GDW player spotlight for the week:
Kylee Smith and Isabella Guzman of Good Hope Middle School.
Smith showed superb play from her role as a setter and an attacker in the Cullman County MS tournament.
Smith earned the tournament's most outstanding performer by Gameday Weekly.
Guzman became inspired of playing well in the championship series vs. West Point.
With a series of kills and a huge score on a volley late in the 2nd set, Guzman received top honors in the title match by GDW.
Both were named to the coaches all county team and look forward to their future when they become members of the high school team.
