GDW Analysis:
GOOD HOPE: Ava McSwain was given a game ball by her coach Justin Aby Monday evening before the Good Hope Lady Raiders took on the Fairview Lady Aggies.
This was an opportunity for the team to honor their senior after she reached 2,000 points in her career on November 27 against Austin in the Encore Classic in Hartselle.
After the ceremony, McSwain and her teammates went to work with scoring consistency. Good Hope was superior against the Lady Aggies in a 65 to 32 victory, their 6th win in a row.
A 14 to 9 at the end of the first for Good Hope went up to 28 to 17 at the half. The Lady Raiders matched their point total in the first with the same number in the 2nd.
They did it despite a rough go from the foul line as hitting only 3 of 10 in the opening half for 30 percent.
A difference was Good Hope took advantage of Fairview mistakes and foul problems. The Lady Aggies also had a woeful time from the line in the half, making 1 of 6 for 16 percent.
McSwain, with 10 points by intermission, delivered four FGs in the 3rd to help Good Hope break it open by a 20 to 8 margin and a 48 to 25 lead.
All 10 FGs scored by the Lady Raiders were 2 pointers. Fairview managed just 2 shots made in the period and had only 9 through the first 24:00 of play.
Lucie Adams gave the Lady Raiders a 4th period weapon with 8 points and would get 12 on the evening.
Jolee McHan would have 10, Lexi Collins 8, Lexi Marshall 7 and 2 treys in the 2nd from Sophie Konrad.
McSwain ended the game with 18 points and now has 2,044 in her career.
Good Hope never let Fairview tally double digits in any period. Fairview was 9, 8, 8 and only 7 in the 4th, hitting 12 in the game, 2 from 3 point range.
Kailyn Redding produced 11 off the bench while Davi Stidham had 8 for the Lady Aggies, now 6 & 4. Whitney Quick scored 7, Darby Nichols and Lexi Golden 3 apiece.
