Stories from VB, BK, FB and much more:

GDW Analysis:

West Point standout honored by ACCC volleyball:
MONTGOMERY: Former West Point standout Liberty Shadix has been recognized as co volleyball player of the week by the Alabama Community College Conference.
The freshman had 21 kills during 8 sets last week, 35 total attacks, 2.63 kills per set.
Shadix, now playing at Snead State, has helped the Lady Parsons to a tie for 3rd place in the ACCC North with Southern Union at 4 & 2. They are 14 & 9 on the season.

Former head hoops coach hired by Danville HS:
DANVILLE: New Danville basketball coach Sam Wallace announced his staff for the 2024/25 season.
His JV coach and associate head coach is Phillip Key.
Key has been coaching the sport for 17 years. He was head coach at Winston County High School for a couple of years, then moved on to West Point Middle School the last two years.
Key comes from a basketball coaching family. His brother Faron is now the head coach at Wallace State Community College. His other brother Robin formerly coached at nearby Meek High School.

Danville is in Class 4A this year and will be in the same area with Good Hope High School.

New location for AHSAA North VB Super Regional:
MONTGOMERY: Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) has announced the North Volleyball Super Regional will be played at the Finley Center in Hoover the weekend of October 23/25.
An agreement between the AHSAA and the Von Braun Center in Huntsville could not be worked out, so the facility next to the Hoover Met will be the site for teams to qualify for the state tournament.
The agreement with the AHSAA, the Finley Center and the city of Hoover is just for the 2024 season.

Fairview Aggies go up a spot in 5A football poll:
BIRMINGHAM: Even without playing last week, the Fairview Aggies are back at the No. 5 position in the state 5A football poll.
The Aggies are 4 & 0 on the season and have a huge Region 7 game Friday at Russellville.
Even with a 5 & 0 record, the Good Hope Raiders are not in the Top 10 of Class 4A this week.
The Cullman Bearcats get to say hello this week to the No. 9 Hartselle Tigers as they come to Britton Field/Woodard Stadium for a 6A, Region 7 battle.
