Local prep football has entered its October schedule where each week will be huge for teams in the quest to qualify for the AHSAA playoffs.
Gameday Weekly looks at the October 4 schedule with playoff implication riding on most of the matchups.

Good Hope (5-0, 3-0) at Curry (0-6, 0-3):
4A, Region 5
Good Hope leads series 5 to 0
Good Hope defeated Addison 27 to 0 last week.
Raiders are the best defense in the state, allowing 3.2 points a game and have back to back shutout victories.


Hartselle (4-1, 2-0) at Cullman (3-3, 1-2):
6A, Region 7
Game will be on 98.3 FM
Hartselle leads series 51/47/4
Hartselle has 4 consecutive shutout victories. Cullman is coming off 35 to 0 win over Brewer. The 2nd of 3 straight games for the Bearcats from Mark Britton Field/Oliver Woodard Stadium.

Fairview (4-0, 3-0) at Russellville (4-1, 3-0)
5A, Region 7
Russellville leads series 2 to 1.
Fairview was idle last week.
First place in the region hanging in the balance as

the Aggies are 3 & 0 in road games this season. Fairview has finished 2nd to Russellville in regional play the last 2 years.

Priceville (2-3, 1-1) at West Point (0-5, 0-2)
5A, Region 7
West Point leads series 2 to 0.
Priceville is a newcomer to 5A football this season. West Point is coming off a tough loss at Hayden 16 to 14. Hayden scored late on a 90 yard drive and got a 2 point conversion to keep the Warriors winless for new coach Kevin McCravy.

Whitesburg Chr (2-3, 1-2) at Holly Pond (2-3, 1-2):
3A, Region 8
First meeting between the two.
Holly Pond was idle last week.
Broncos 2 & 1 at Thomas/Michelfelder Field.
Whitesburg 0 & 1 on the road. School is located in Huntsville.
Game will be on hollypondbroncos.com

Cold Springs (3-3, 1-1) at West End (0-6, 0-3):
2A, Region 6
West End leads series 6 to 2

Eagles have gone 3 & 0 on the road this season.
The 2nd game in a row for West End vs. a Cullman County school. Vinemont beat the Patriots 36 to 6 last week in Walnut Grove.


All games will kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
