GDW Analysis:
VINEMONT: Reagan Robinson is the latest local basketball player to reach the 1,000 point total in her career.
The Vinemont Lady Eagle point guard/shooting guard accomplished the feat in a game at New Hope High School November 27 against Skyline.
What makes it special for Robinson, she shares this accomplishment in a family way.
Her mother, Lindsay Haynes Robinson, netted 1,001 points playing for Vinemont from 1998 to 2001.
Going into a game at home Tuesday vs. West Point, Robinson was at 1,000 points.
The school recognized her for the accomplishment with a game ball presented to her by head coach Emily Willoughby and principal Robin Netherton.
Robinson's first FG in the opening period moved her by her mother's tally. She would end up with 18 points and lead Vinemont to a huge upset of West Point, 56 to 54.
The loss was West Point's first in Cullman County games this season. West Point could not lock up at least the No. 2 seed for the county tournament. Vinemont won a county game under Willoughby for the first time in three decisions and the Lady Eagles had their 6th victory in 8 games.
Robinson and her mom have been impact players to the history of Vinemont hoops.
Reagan has been a part of back to back winning seasons with Vinemont as they have earned 34 victories from 2022 to 2024. They are seeking three straight winning campaigns for the first time since the early 2000s.
Miss Robinson, known as Miss Haynes in her prep days, was part of an area championship she enjoyed when she was a senior, playing for Bob Gingrich.
Through conversation with Reagan's mom before the West Point game Tuesday, she told Gameday Weekly, Vinemont had approximately 4 Lady Eagles to acclaim 1,000 points.
Lela Williams, an outstanding Lady Eagle, produced more than 1,200 points according to information given to GDW.
Robinson joins a talented group of female players that have enjoyed shining moments one month into the new hoops season.
Ella Dickerson of Cold Springs was at 1,000 on the night of November 22 when she scored 37 in an OT win at Fairview.
Ava McSwain of Good Hope went into the 2000s on November 27 at Hartselle as she had 29 in a victory over Austin.
Robinson and the Lady Eagles look to their first assignment in 3A, Area 13 play Friday when Vinemont hosts JB Pennington.
