Fairview & West Point open new season as classic winners:

GDW Analysis:
FAIRVIEW: From the 4th Fairview Lady Aggies Tip Off Classic, Fairview and West Point celebrated opening day of hoops by having good performances against Susan Moore High School.
Fairview finished the event Saturday evening, holding off Susan Moore 59 to 49.
West Point got the high school division going in shooting past Susan Moore 70 to 31.
The matchup of high caliber was between Good Hope and Lauderdale County. Lauderdale would finish the game with a 15 to 0 run, knocking off the Lady Raiders.
An impressive performance was shown by Plainview defeating Muscle Shoals 82 to 52.
Fairview's victory:
Fairview came out with balance scoring, five putting their name into the scorebook by the end of the first and leading Susan Moore 22 to 9.
Davi Stidham hit for 6 in the first with support coming from Peyton DeBoor netting 6 and newcomer Whitney Quick scoring 5.
The Lady Aggies led 34 to 17 at halftime. They could never get the advantage any higher and Susan Moore found its shot from the perimeter in scoring 7 treys during the 2nd half to make it a close game.
A three by Susan Moore got the Lady Bulldogs to 48 to 41 early in the 4th. Six consecutive baskets by Susan Moore were from downtown.

 Fairview was able to withstand the Susan Moore sharpshooting and claim victory, despite shooting 8 of 20 at the FT line in the final 16:00.
Quick got 13 in the opener for coach Chris Nichols. Kailyn Redding came off the bench and tallied 11, Stidham finished with 12 and DeBoor 10 for Fairview to have four in double figures.
PG Darby Nichols accounted for 7 with Lexi Golden scoring 4.
West Point's victory vs. Susan Moore:
 
West Point is an experienced team and they showed it Saturday afternoon for going ahead of Susan Moore 15 to 7 at the end of the first and 33 to 12 at halftime.
Jaelyn Faulkner ripped the cords for 16 in the first half. Six others contributed to the scoring tally for coach John Welborn.
West Point led 47 to 25 at the end of the 3rd and then caught fire with 23 points in the final period, 13 from the good shooting of Kealie Harbison.
Harbison hit 6 FGs in the period, one from long range. She would deliver 17.
Faulkner was top scorer at 22, Laklin Shadix 8, Camryn Faulkner 8.
Good Hope not able to win its opener:
New look Good Hope at times showed a lot of ability with 3A contender Lauderdale County.
The first ended with an even score of 11 to 11.
Lauderdale got a basket before the half ended and was ahead at the break 22 to 20.
Lauderdale finally had a weapon to come alive for the Lady Tigers in shooting guard Shila Marks.
Marks, scoreless through the half, buried the Lady Raiders for 17 in the 3rd. A 24 to 15 run gave them a 46 to 35 lead.
Good Hope's last FG of the game was at 6:00 to narrow the deficit to 48 to 42.
Justin Aby's squad went into a drought and Lauderdale County finished the contest scoring the final 15 points to win by a margin of 21.
Marks led the visitors from Rogersville with 20. Ansley Shelton had 14 and Armani Thomas scored 13.
Ava McSwain looked good for Good Hope with 21 points, a game high. McSwain did miss a series of good looking attempts and was one of four from the line.
Lucie Adams had 7, Lexi Marshall 5, Ella Gossett 4 and Jolee McHan 2.
Plainview uses a deadly do vs, Muscle Shoals:
Plainview and Muscle Shoals played the best first half of the four games Saturday with Plainview leading Shoals 40 to 32 when play ended in the first half.
Plainview was superior in the 2nd half. The Lady Bears outscored the Lady Trojans 42 to 20 behind a deadly scoring duo.
Sophomore Sawyer Kate Hulgan pumped in 28 points, hitting 5 shots from 3 point range.
Senior Lauren Jimmerson gave the Lady Bears 17, as she made 5 long distance FGs.
Plainview would claim the most points in the Classic and the largest margin of victory too, a total of 30 points.
Elsewhere in Saturday girls hoops:
Cullman had Madison Academy to visit Bearcat Arena for a regular season game.
The Lady 'Cats struggled in the first half scoring but overcame that to send the game with the Lady Mustangs into overtime.
Madison Academy went home with a 48 to 41 victory, dropping the Lady 'Cats to 1 & 1 on the new season.
Cullman led 8 to 7 following the first then managed a trey for its 2nd period scoring. Madison Academy had a 13 to 3 spurt in the 2nd for a 20 to 11 lead at intermission.

 The Lady 'Cats did not have two weapons that carried them to victory in the opener two days earlier.
Molly Dorough who scored 16 vs. Cordova and Cadence Hanback finished with 10, was shut out by Madison Academy Saturday.
Jessica McBrayer's Lady 'Cats will meet Pelham in the Veterans Day Classic Monday at 12:30 from Wallace State's Tom Drake Coliseum.
