Flash Facts:
Oldest rivalry for Vinemont outside of the county.
It can be called a "Border War" for the two schools are
approximately 10 miles from one another at the Cullman/Morgan
county line.
The last two meetings have been decided by a touchdown.
Falkville had a good start in 2023 with three wins in its first three games before a 5 game losing streak turned the season in the other direction and knocked them out of the playoffs.
The Blue Devils played in a jamboree last Friday at Winston County, meeting Sulligent for a half and South Lamar for a half.
Vinemont enters 2024 with 18 seniors, a number that is pleasing to coach Robinson.
Rush Sandlin is the Eagles' QB with experience that is valuable. Vinemont runs the football on a regular basis as Kayden Henderson is a key figure for the ground attack.
The senior group Robinson is counting on for leadership and unity.
Vinemont played a spring jamboree with two quarters going against Fyffe and the 2nd half taking on the Good Hope Raiders.
Fyffe is the No. 1 team in the state 3A preseason poll.
Playing a squad like Fyffe Robinson said, is a good test of measurement of executing vs. a talented ball club.
The game carries huge momentum for Vinemont. The Eagles will be on the road for the following three games with trips to Southeastern in Blount County, Phil Campbell in Franklin County and at Midfield in Jefferson County.
Vinemont has posted 12 wins in its last 20 games from Smothers Stadium.
Robinson's record against Falkville is two victories and three losses.
The Eagles and Blue Devils have met on opening night of AHSAA football in 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023. The series was not in operation for 2020 and 2021.
According to information, this is the first time of Vinemont vs. Falkville on WKUL FM.
The first time the Eagles and Blue Devils tangled on the gridiron was September 3 of 1971. Falkville claimed a 35 to 6 victory. Vinemont was in its 2nd year playing in the sport.
