GDW Analysis:
WEST POINT: A potential loss in the West Point Christmas Classic championship game Saturday became a comeback victory by the West Point Warriors.
The Warriors were a storm on the Jim Boyd Gymnasium floor with 19 consecutive points to get command of the battle and defeat Decatur Heritage 68 to 52.
Decatur Heritage led 36 to 33 at halftime with the battle enduring 4 ties and 5 lead changes.
West Point's Jay Lamar was a different player in the 3rd than what he showed the crowd in the first half.
Only 5 points by intermission and shooting 25 percent from the line, Lamar uplifted the West Point attack with 16 points in a 27 to 8 advantage in the 3rd.
The Warriors' 19 to 0 run sent them to a 60 to 44 lead to the final stanza.
West Point converted 10 FGs in the 3rd and held the potent Decatur Heritage offense to 3 FGs.
Center Brady Wilson and Hayden Page combined for 25 points in the 1st half. The tandem managed 5 in the 3rd and 0 points in the last period.
The third by Lamar enabled him to be the leader in the title game with 21 points. Jaxon Shelton scored 19, 11 in the 1st half.
Maddox Chapman tossed in 12, Nolan Franklin and Cade Vincent 6 each, Cade Welborn 4.
West Point has a 16 & 3 record and has been a winner at Jim Boyd Gym in its last 4 games.
Wilson got 17 with Page hitting for 13 for Decatur Heritage, The Eagles dropped to 8 & 7.
