WEST POINT: Comfortable weather greeted the West Point Warriors Friday in a controlled scrimmage to conclude "Warriors Night" from West Point Stadium.
The temperature around sunset was 82 degrees, less humidity and a light breeze that enabled the Warriors to go on a 45 minute session of contact work.
West Point is in its first season with Kevin McCravy. McCravy replaced Don Farley who retired after the 2023 season in which he led the Warriors to 54 victories and six playoff berths in 11 seasons.
McCravy has a mixture on his coaching staff with Justin Cornelius, Jr Lynn, Phillip Miller who were with Farley last season.
Newcomers to the staff include Brad Brazeal, Logan McInnish, Adam Thompson, Anfernee Wallace and Zeke White.

While the festivity began with scrimmages from the youth programs and the middle school team, the Warriors were on the practice field going through drills before they came to stadium to get into the mode of a game time situation with the lights on, fans in the stands, cheerleaders cheering, band performing and in the background, longtime PA announcer Larry Duke.
The process for McCravy is moving forward with the Warriors looking forward to next week.
They will continue to set the tone as the 2024 season is getting closer.
West Point will have a jamboree on the home field next Friday vs. the Hanceville Bulldogs. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
In the start of the McCravy era, the Warriors will look to use the home field as an advantage.
West Point has Haleyville paying a visit on opening night, August 23, then the latest battle with their county rival Good Hope. The Raiders invade West Point Stadium on the last Friday of August (30th).
Going on the road the first time, the Warriors will head to Dafford Smith Stadium September 6 to face the Fairview Aggies.
West Point and Fairview share company in 5A, Region 7 with Lawrence County, Priceville, East Limestone, Russellville and Ardmore.
Priceville is up from Class 4A and has been successful in recent seasons out of Morgan County.
Fairview, East Limestone, Russellville and Ardmore have been regional foes for the previous two seasons.
Russellville will be the final game for the Warriors at home October 18. West Point ends regional play in Ardmore October 25 and closes the regular season the 1st of November by going to Florette for a challenge vs. the Brewer Patriots.
