GDW Analysis:
GOOD HOPE: Arab took this kind of approach Friday evening when the Arabian Knights paid a visit to face the No. 4 Good Hope Raiders from Class 4A,
Everything to gain and nothing to lose. Arab had won 3 of 11 games in December and was coming off a 66 to 57 the night before to the Brewer Patriots.
Arab answered the challenge in earning a 66 to 59 upset of the Raiders by outscoring Good Hope 23 to 10 in the final period.
Good Hope shook off getting behind 28 to 16 to the Knights in the 2nd, finishing with a 15 to 0 run as Gavin Pace anchored the Raider rally with 12 in the 2nd.
Good Hope went up 31 to 28 and would be on top at 49 to 43 when the 4th began.
All night, Arab found the Good Hope Gymnasium comfortable to scoring from long range. The Knights also never allowed Drew Adams' Raiders to engage a much faster tempo for they were scoring respectable numbers.
The potent Raider offense experienced a rough final period with only 10 points and one FG from three point territory.
A major fact for Arab was scoring twice late in the game on missed free throw attempts.
Landon Strickland took advantage of not being boxed out near the basket and made a couple of FGs with Arab going up by six and Good Hope seeing victory elude them on the first Friday of January.
Three FGs in the 4th from Strickland allowed the senior to end the performance scoring 16 points.
Zachary Hallman supported the attack with 15, Carson Jennings produced 12 and three treys by sophomore Davis Kinney gave him a total of 9.
Tucker Malin would be the top scorer for Good Hope with 20. He tallied 12 in the 3rd, but was unable to get any points in the 4th.
Pace had 15, but was not a factor in the 2nd half for unable to connect from long range.
Tyler Cone, honored before the game for reaching 1,000 points in his career the previous weekend in Destin, Florida, had 10 points.
PG Jacob Haynes managed seven, but two of his FGs came late in the contest.
Good Hope never went to the foul line in the 2nd half with Arab earning 14 visits to the stripe in the final period of play.
The Raiders lose for the first time at home this season in six games. Good Hope is 15 & 3 as they look to bounce back next week with a game Monday at Susan Moore for their next encounter.
