Cullman rebounded from a poor showing in its opener to take down Mortimer Jordan last Friday on the home turf.
The Bearcats showed poise in overcoming a 7 to 6 first quarter deficit and get control of the game, by leading it at halftime 14 to 7.
Three times the Bearcats would display TD scoring drives in the 2nd half, one in the 3rd to create breathing room and finish the evening by a 21 point victory against a team that had defeated them the year before.
Athens has allowed 2 TDs in 2 games, letting Mae Jemison get one in the first game and Buckhorn one last week.
The Bearcats remember last season in which Athens came to Cullman and earned a 34 to 28 triumph.
This game looms large for the Bearcats with it being their 2nd straight to play from Britton Field/Woodard Stadium.
Cullman will be on the road the rest of September with the next two in Region 7 play.
The 'Cats are at Jasper on Thursday, September and go to Muscle Shoals the 20th.
The rest of the Region 7 schedule for Friday has the following.
Decatur at Jasper
Muscle Shoals at Columbia (Milton Frank Stadium)
Hartselle is idle
