GDW Analysis:
Cullman County Board of Education (CCBOE) conducted its July meeting Thursday afternoon from the conference room.
Gameday Weekly was given a copy of the agenda.
GDW spoke with Cold Springs board member Wayne Myrex to confirm the hiring of Kate Kent as new volleyball coach. GDW was informed of it through sources on Tuesday.
The following athletic activity was approved by the CCBOE:
Approval of 2023/24 non faculty coaches. The procedure was based upon completion of requirements as per board procedure athletic regulations.
Approval of 2024/25 non faculty coaches. The procedure was based upon completion of requirements as per board procedure athletic regulations.

 Approval of request to pay Ty Watwood, media and communications specialist, a supplement of $500 per month for additional duties beyond contract, paid by event sponsorships and local funds.
Approval of request from Good Hope High School to pay Scott Adams and Mitchell Morris $600 for summer basketball duties, paid by local school funds.
Approval of request from Holly Pond High School to pay Michael Bates $2,500 for field maintenance, repairs and upkeep of the football facilities, paid by Holly Pond Quarterback Club.
Approval of out of state field trip request by Hanceville High School volleyball team. The team will be participating in a team camp July 26 at Murfreesboro, Tennessee (Middle Tennessee State).
Approval of the 2024/25 athletic and academic supplements.
Superintendent Shane Barnette announced the first day of school for county students A - K will be on August 8 with the opening day for students L - Z to be on August 9.
The next meeting of the CCBOE will be on August 15 at 3:30 p.m. from the conference room.
