GDW Analysis:
HOLLY POND: Cullman County's junior varsity volleyball championship was a thriller with Good Hope defeating West Point two games to one Thursday from Felton Easterwood Gymnasium.
Top seed Good Hope finished with a 26 to 24 victory in the opening set.
No. 2 seed West Point came back with a 25 to 18 decision in sending this to a tiebreaker.
This would be the 3rd straight match that would go to a decisive Game 3.
Good Hope earned the championship by a final of 15 to 11. The match was played in 1 hour, 1 minute.
Both teams escaped upset bids on Tuesday as the effort of Good Hope and West Point JV, indicated a promising future when these players move on to the varsity roster.
Good Hope was undefeated through the seedings at 5 & 0 with West Point 4 & 1.
Both got a bye into the semifinal round with the JV division at six teams, not seven. Cold Springs did not have a JV team for this season.
Good Hope held off 4th seed Holly Pond 2 to 1 in the semifinal round.
West Point got a 2 to 1 triumph against 6th seed Vinemont. Vinemont started the tournament on Monday with an upset of No. 3 seed Fairview.
