Cullman SB claims victory over Mt. Brook:

Lady 'Cats off to 2 & 1 start under new coach Jessica McBrayer:

GDW Analysis:
Three games into her first season coaching Cullman High School softball, Jessica McBrayer has seen her squad come out with victory in two consecutive games.
After outscoring West Point 11 to 10 Tuesday, the Lady Bearcats stayed at home in taking on Mountain Brook Thursday.
Very good pitching from Kynlei Story and her sister Summer, plus timely hitting carried Cullman to a 7 to 1 victory.
A 4 run second inning got the Lady 'Cats the lead. Wesley Burden delivered a run scoring double while other runs were produced on a sacrifice bunt by Hattie Graham and a sac fly by Samantha Johnson.

Burden collected her 2nd run scoring double in the 3rd and Johnson scored on a stolen base to 3rd, followed by a throwing error to make it 6 to 0.
Abby Maples ripped a double and later scored on a base hit in the 5th for a 7 to 0 lead.

Kynlei Story had a shutout going with one out in the 6th when McBrayer made a pitching change and brought in her older sister.
Mountain Brook got a run in the inning on a double into the gap in right center to remove the zero off their side of the scoreboard.
The two sisters combined for four hits allowed and 11 strikeouts.
Kynlei had 9 including a strikeout of the side in the first inning.
Summer struck out two, plus had a great defensive play from Maples at 2nd base in the 7th to rob Mountain Brook of a base hit.
The final out was recorded on a stolen base try as Johnson threw to Graham to tag out the runner and end the game at 6:38 p.m.
The game was 1 hour, 34 minutes under good conditions with game time temperature in the 60s and the wind blowing around 8 mph,
Next week, McBrayer's Lady 'Cats will play at Cordova Monday, host East Lawrence Tuesday and travel to Brewer next Thursday.
The Cordova game will be the road opener for her squad.
