Eight local teams remain ranked in state basketball poll:

A few changes after some teams lost last week:

BIRMINGHAM: Eight basketball teams that are covered regularly by Gameday Weekly remain in the Top 10 of the latest state prep rankings.
Three teams that suffered a loss are in a different ranking this week.
One team that fell in the quarterfinals of the Cullman County Tournament stayed where they have been throughout January.
Cold Springs Lady Eagles are 2nd in 2A to Decatur Heritage. The Lady Eagles fell 71 to 46 to West Point Tuesday evening. They have 14 wins against 8 losses.
Cullman Bearcats went from No. 3 to No. 9 in Class 6A after a 75 to 74 loss last Friday to Mortimer Jordan. Cullman has 22 wins in 26 games.
West Point dropped to No. 10 in the 5A poll following a 68 to 65 loss in Area 15 play last Friday vs. Russellville. The Warriors stand at 17 & 6 with their next game Friday in the Cullman County semifinals against Holly Pond.
Holly Pond Lady Broncos went from 7th in the 3A poll last week to 8th this week. A 43 to 36 loss in OT against Fairview in the county tournament is the latest of what has taken place for the Lady Broncos now 17 & 7.
Good Hope stopped a 3 game losing streak, but still fell a spot in the 4A poll. The Raiders are 6th this week, but back on track with 3 victories in the span of 5 days. The Raiders have 18 wins against 6 setbacks.
Good Hope Lady Raiders are still 4th in 4A,k sporting a record of 18 & 5. A 3 game winning streak has been built by the team following a loss of January 9 to current 2nd ranked in 4A, Madison Academy.
With 19 wins in 23 games, Vinemont Lady Eagles stayed at No. 6 in 3A. Vinemont is the hottest local team with 8 straight victories, winning five games between January 14 to January 20.
Staying 5th in their poll is the West Point Lady Warriors. Now at 19 & 4, the Lady Warriors have gone 6 & 0 in January as they look to battle Vinemont Thursday evening in the Cullman County semifinals from Wallace State.
Not in the Top 10 but having a good season is the St. Bernard Lady Saints. The Lady Saints have won 4 of their last 5 and are 10 & 5 for the season. They clinched the 1A, Area 14 title on Monday by a 41 to 38 victory at Addison.
Hartselle Lady Tigers are still 3rd in 6A, Scottsboro Lady Wildcats 1st in 5A, Mortimer Jordan Lady Devils 4th in 6A, Decatur Heritage Lady Eagles 1st in 2A, Guntersville Wildcats 6th in 5A, Decatur Heritage Eagles 4th in 2A.
A week of regular season play remains for everyone before the area playoffs start for some teams the weekend of January 31.
