Cullman Bearcats
Jake Dorough of Cullman
Cullman played in the New Years Classic at Wallace State January 2 and outlasted the Homewood Patriots 78 to 73.
The following day, the Bearcats made a rare visit to Cold Springs High School, playing Marion County in the John Tekulve Classic and scoring a 68 to 41 victory.
Stu Stuedeman's Bearcats have regained momentum with 6 consecutive victories between December 21 and last Friday.
The 'Cats go into the first full week of January with 19 wins out of 22 games and a No. 3 ranking in the state's 6A poll.
Dorough was sharp for the 'Cats in the Homewood game from Wallace State.
The senior earned 24 points, converting 9 FGs, 1 trey and was 5 of 6 from the line, all in the 4th to keep the 'Cats ahead.
Dorough scored 18 of his 24 in the 2nd half.

GIRLS:
West Point Lady Warriors
Jaelyn Faulkner of West Point
Like Cullman, West Point played at Wallace State January 2 in defeating the Clements Lady Colts 78 to 46.
On Friday, John Welborn took the Lady Warriors into Walker County and came home with a 71 to 41 romp of Cordova.
The Clements game was covered by Gameday Weekly with West Point breaking it open by a 42 to 24 margin in the final half after a 36 to 22 lead at the half.
West Point now has 14 wins in 18 games and looks to play Tuesday in Russellville to stay atop the leaderboard in AHSAA 5A, Area 15 hoops.
Miss Faulkner was a huge factor in the 2nd half of the Clements game with 19 of her 27 points.
She set a scoring tone with 13 in the 3rd and numerous times, scored on penetrating drives through the Clements defense.
Faulkner finished with 11 made shots and was perfect at the line in 5 attempts.
