GDW Analysis:
Local basketball for the first week of January is being challenged from the weather.
Cold temperatures have hit the area after rainfall took place for several hours Sunday evening.
National Weather Service calls for the temperature on Tuesday to be in the 30s and in the 20s at night time.
Seven assignments are on tap with six to be area competition.
Tuesday schedule:

West Point at Russellville 6:00/7:30

Only Hanceville is not in area play. The others loom large for the local teams in the quest to make a strong run before the pairings for area playoffs take place near the end of January.
Cullman County pairings:
Cullman County Board of Education is scheduled to set up the pairings for the basketball tournament Wednesday.
This will take place inside the conference room at the CCBOE office.
A three way tie will create a coin toss between Fairview, Good Hope and West Point in the varsity. Each went 5 & 1 in county games.
The high school division of the county tournament will be January 20/25 from Wallace State's Tom Drake Coliseum.
WKUL FM (92.1) will present the high school games live for your listening pleasure.
The concern for weather for the weekend:
Cullman County and the Tennessee Valley has been reported of concern for travel on Friday and Saturday.
Freezing rain, sleet and snow is currently possible for both days.
With travel being questioned, prep games on Friday could wind up being postponed.
Cold Springs has moved its games at Falkville up to Thursday.
Plenty of assignments are set at gymnasiums on Friday locally from Cullman Christian, Cullman, Fairview, St. Bernard and Vinemont.
