Local teams out after 1st round of AHSAA baseball postseason:

GDW Analysis:
  Week 1 of the AHSAA baseball playoffs is over. Four local teams saw their season end in being swept by their opposition.
From 2A, Holly Pond Broncos were defeated by North Sand Mountain in Higdon 10 t0 0 and 7 to 3.
Vinemont Eagles suffered back to back losses at Gordo on Friday 11 to 1 and 8 to 2. The Eagles end a good season at 18 & 7 and were ranked for several weeks in the 3A state poll.
Hanceville Bulldogs were put out in Class 4A by the Brooks Lions. Brooks won 4 to 0 and 12 to 2. Hanceville had 14 wins in 2024 out of 23 decisions.
Fairview played in the 5A postseason. The Aggies went to Madison Academy. The Mustangs prevailed 4 to 0 and 9 to 3. Fairview has the best record of the county teams this season, 19 victories 12 losses and a tie.
Some teams well known to our coverage area from nearby managed to be a winner in the 1st round.
The Addison Bulldogs went to Florence and came home with a sweep of Covenant Christian in 1A, 10 to 3 and 3 to 0. Addison has a 14 & 13 record overall.
The Bulldogs will play Coosa Christian in Round 2 this weekend.
Up the road in Morgan County, No. 1 Hartselle Tigers defeated the Homewood Patriots 6 to 2 and 3 to 0 at Reuben Sims Field.
Hartselle is now 26 & 7 and will see the Pell City Panthers in the 2nd round this weekend.
Site and game times are to be set by the AHSAA.
