Lions compile two wins in conference baseball vs. Lawson:

HANCEVILLE: Wallace State did not let the last place in ACCC baseball get the best of them Saturday from James C. Bailey Stadium.
Lawson State split with the Lions on Thursday in Birmingham, winning the nightcap 5 to 4 after a lengthy weather delay.
The Lions took care of the Cougars 5 to 0 in game one and came from behind in the 2nd game by a 5 to 4 triumph.
Wallace State is 16 & 12 in ACCC baseball.
Randy Putman's Lions got some help from Northwest Shoals Saturday. The Patriots went to Chattahoochee Valley and swept the Pirates 6 to 1 and 9 to 1.
The Lions have a 5 game lead on CVCC for 6th place in the conference with 8 games to go. The top six will make the conference tournament that will be in Oxford the week of May 6.
WSCC 16 & 12 in conference play, CVCC 11 & 17.
Shoals is 19 & 9 after the sweep of CVCC, 4th place.
Cole Molina was on top of his game pitching for the Lions in the opener. The right hander kept the Cougars scoreless, allowing five hits and four strikeouts.
Wallace gave Molina two runs in the 2nd, two in the 3rd and a solo home from Colton Payton in the 5th for a 5 run advantage.
The Lions earned this victory in 7 innings in an hour and 34 minutes.
Game 2 was a regular 9 inning affair (conference rules).
The Lions came back from a 3 to 2 deficit to tie the score at 3 to 3 in the 7th.
Lawson managed to manufacture a go ahead run in its half of the 9th on a steal of home by third baseman Carson Foote.
With an out in their side of the 9th, Logan Green singled and a walk to Connor Cosby put the tieing run in scoring position. Green was lame with a hamstring issue and replaced by pinch runner Mykell Murrah.
Juan Pablo Morales took a pitch and drilled it down the right field line, collecting a triple.
Murrah scored the 4th run with ease while Cosby raced from first with the game winner. The Lions ended this excitement at 5:08 p.m.
Game 2 of 9 innings was played in 2 hours, 25 minutes.
The Lions have Northwest Shoals next weekend. The series starts at Wallace on Thursday at 2:00 & 4:30 p.m.
Then the two will finish it out next Saturday at NW Shoals.
