GDW area championship report Tuesday:


West Point 59, Russellville 53 (5A, 15):
RUSSELLVILLE: West Point got up on the Golden Tigers, leading 15 to 8 after the 1st and surprising Russellville with a 29 to 12 lead at the half.
Russellville made a slight run to close to 44 to 33 at the end of the 3rd.
The Golden Tigers got the margin to single digits during the 4th but the Warriors played with poise in getting their biggest win of the season.
Mason Voce's Warriors are 21 & 7 with 4 consecutive victories. The last 2 were in the playoffs of 68 to 56 over Lawrence County and the title game takedown Tuesday with Russellville.
Up next: West Point will host Brewer in a sub regional Saturday 6:00 p.m.

West Morgan 67, Good Hope 51 (4A, 13):
TRINITY:  Good Hope's quest to grab the 4A, Area 13 title on the road got denied by West Morgan.
The Raiders fall to 22 & 7 with the Rebels now 15 & 8 under first year coach Bobby Meyer.
Up next: Good Hope at Area 14 winner in sub regional Saturday 6:00 p.m.


Meek 55, Addison 43 (1A, 14):
ADDISON: An upset was covered by Gameday Weekly Tuesday from Allen Stephenson Gymnasium.
Addison had won 16 straight and was 2 & 0 against Meek in the regular season.
The Tigers were on top 12 to 10 when the first ended and held a 27 to 21 advantage at the half.
Meek took a 38 to 30 lead into the 4th with Addison able to close to 45 to 40 on a three pointer before the Tigers locked down the championship, a year after the Bulldogs in the title game.
PG Evan McCoy scored 19 for the Tigers. He tallied 8 during the final period. Parker Ferguson had 13 and Conner Lane scored 9.
The Tigers are 9 & 9 on the season.
Elijah Roberts was tops for the Bulldogs with 15. Jed Wilkins collected 8 and reached 1,000 points in his career.
Addison, with rookie coach Triston Chambers, fell to 19 & 7. This was their first loss since they fell to West Point December 14 in the Randy Jones Classic.
