Hanceville Bulldogs earn an OT victory vs. the Vinemont Eagles:

Bulldogs get 2nd straight win in AHSAA 3A, Area 13 play:

HANCEVILLE: County rivals Hanceville and Vinemont now have added the status that they play in the same area in AHSAA basketball.
Both were reclassified to Class 3A, Area 13. by the state back in January. This will be for the next two years.
In their first official meeting as area contenders Friday evening, Hanceville earned a 46 to 38 triumph in OT from Lane Horton Gymnasium with the game carried live on WKUL FM (92.1).
The victory by the Bulldogs was their 2nd in area play this week. Hanceville had won at JB Pennington 67 to 57 Tuesday and is in 2nd place in the area standings to Locust Fork who is 2 & 0.
The encounter was a game of spurts by both teams.
Vinemont led 19 to 11 late in the 2nd then Hanceville closed out the period with 11 consecutive points and moved on top at the break 22 to 19.
After letting the lead elude them, Vinemont adjusted and had a 13 to 10 edge in scoring in the 3rd to send the battle even on the numbers at 32 to 32.
The two struggled in being offensive in the 4th with only 4 points getting produced, creating a 36 to 36 deadlock and an extra period of hoops.
Vinemont tallied a FG then Hanceville finished with the final 10 points of the contest.
Peyton Twilley stood alone for Stephen Chandler's Bulldogs with a game high 25 points. Twilley delivered 8 of 10 from the line for 80 percent.
Drake Bentley added 7 to the tally.
Twilley had a good week in leading the Bulldogs attack. He collected 18 at Pennington and finished the week with an average of 21.5 points a game.
Hanceville is now 5 & 6 for the season.
Balanced scoring was the topic for Vinemont.
Bryson Bush, Colton Gillis and EJ Sharpe had 7 apiece with Gee Flores coming off the bench and scoring 6.
Preston Boyd's Eagles dropped to 3 & 9 and are 0 & 3 in area play.
Both teams see Holly Pond on the schedule next week.
Hanceville gets the Broncos at Dwayne Adams' Court/Felton Easterwood Gym Tuesday.
Vinemont sees the Broncos visiting next Friday with the game to be carried live on WKUL FM at approximately 7:30 p.m.
