HANCEVILLE: Vinemont Lady Eagles regained momentum on the hardwood Friday evening in a 55 to 21 victory over the Hanceville Lady Bulldogs in the premiere of the WKUL FM (92.1) Game of the Week.
Vinemont lost on Tuesday at Locust Fork 55 to 51 in looking to stay close to the top of the standings in AHSAA 3A, Area 13 play.
Coach Emily Willoughby's Lady Eagles did that by having a double digit advantage at the half and in cruise control during the final 16:00.
Vinemont utilized good scoring from its guard play to go 2 & 1 in the area and now with 8 wins in 11 games for Willoughby in her first season with the program.
Caroline Miller and Arleigh Thomason delivered 14 points each. Thomason had a good stroke by scoring 4 from 3 point land, her best outing of the season.
Reagan Robinson produced 9 with the trio combining for 37 points on the floor of Lane Horton Gymnasium.
Hanceville fell to 4 & 6 and dropped to 1 & 2 in the area. No Lady Bulldog could reach double figures with Aaliyah Twitty on top scoring wise for Christina Watson's team with 8 points.
Holly Pond leads the list in area play after the Lady Broncos romped at Pennington Friday evening 50 to 19.
The Lady Broncos are 2 & 0 and will be coming to Vinemont next Friday with the game to be on WKUL FM around 6:15 p.m.
Before Friday, Holly Pond plays Hanceville Tuesday from Dwayne Adams' court at Felton Easterwood Gymnasium at 5:45 p.m.

GOOD HOPE: A day after she was named homecoming queen, Good Hope senior Ava McSwain signed a letter of intent to play at the University of Alabama Huntsville after she graduates in May.
McSwain verbally committed to the Gulf South Conference school back in the summer after a coaching change took place with former Wallace State Lady Lion Allen Sharpe now leading the Lady Chargers.
McSwain will rejoin former teammate Ivey Maddox who is a freshman at UAH.
