GDW Analysis:
Tuesday local girls basketball has four games that are area competition with plenty at stake for five programs.
The one that stands above the others by Gameday Weekly is Vinemont at Holly Pond.
Both are 5 & 1 in 3A, Area 11 play.
Vinemont defeated Holly Pond at home 56 to 46 December 20 on WKUL FM.
Vinemont's only area loss was in December at Locust Fork 55 to 51. Vinemont settled the score in whipping Locust Fork at home January 7, 55 to 22.
Both finish their area schedule later in the week. Vinemont goes to JB Pennington Thursday, Holly Pond has a trip to Hanceville Friday.
Vinemont, # 7 in the current 3A state poll is 14 & 4. Holly Pond is 8th in the ranking and has 15 wins in 20 decisions.
Tip time is set for 7:00 p.m. with the game to be on hollypondbroncos.com
Other areas game with major impact:
Meek at St. Bernard 5:30: Class 1A, Area 14 from the Fazi Richard Athletic Center.
St. Bernard went into the week 1 & 0 in the area and had an area game Monday at Cullman Christian.
Meek is 1 & 1 with a win against Cullman Christian and a loss to Addison.
Addison is currently 2 & 0 in the area.
Good Hope at West Morgan 6:00: Good Hope is 3 & 0 in 4A, Area 13. This is the first of three area games this week for Good Hope, currently ranked 1st in the 4A poll.
Lady Raiders is 15 & 5 on the season.
Lawrence County at West Point 6:30: West Point stands atop the 5A, Area 15 standings with wins already over Lawrence County and Russellville.
Both teams pay a visit to Jim Boyd Gymnasium this week to face the No. 5 squad in the 5A rankings.
West Point brings a 15 & 4 record into the week. Must wins are very much in the need for John Welborn's Lady Warriors to claim the regular season area championship.
