Busy day on the diamond for Lady Vikings Thursday to win 5A title:

GDW Analysis:
OXFORD: Jasper Lady Vikings spent a lot of time on the diamond at Choccolocco Park to finish off a dramatic comeback in winning the AHSAA 5A softball championship Thursday.
The No. 1 team in 5A was sent to the loser's bracket when play began on Tuesday.
Jasper fought through the challenges and would earn the championship with back to back victories over Moody. That came after the Lady Vikings had knocked off Rehobeth 11 to 4 and Alexandria 4 to 1 earlier on Thursday.
The Lady Vikings engaged a slugfest with the Blue Devils, outscoring Moody 16 to 11.
That sent the 5A division into an if needed contest.
Jasper led 2 to 0 with its runs coming in the 2nd. Moody was able to even the numbers at 2 to 2 by scoring twice in its half of the 5th.
Jasper then kept Moody from breaking the tie, winning the game in the last of the 7th.
Emma Lou Franks had the game winning hit for the Lady Vikings.
Sophomore Missy Odom was selected the MVP for her role in the circle for the Lady Vikings.
Jasper ends the season with 23 wins, 5 losses and a tie.
Softball joins girls basketball with a state championship trophy.
Odom, outstanding in softball as she is on the hardwood, has two more seasons to play in the AHSAA.
