GDW Analysis:
With the 2024/25 AHSAA season to start in approximately 6 weeks, a total of 11 coaching changes will be an item Gameday Weekly will pay close attention to.
While on assignment of a volleyball playday Tuesday at West Morgan High School, GDW was informed through sources of a change in command in volleyball.
Kate Kent has reportedly taken over the position at Cold Springs. GDW was informed that Micah Means who coached the Lady Eagles last season, has stepped away from education and taking on a new status in her professional life.
Kent had coached the last 2 years at West Point with her 2023 team finishing with a berth to the semifinal round of the county tournament from Lane Horton Gym in Hanceville.
With Kent now at Cold Springs, three programs in the county system and Cullman High, will be led by someone new to the school.
Volleyball is the most in coaching changes from analysis by GDW with four. The others have Bobby Daniels at Vinemont, Meagan Cagle at West Point and Amy Hudson now in Cullman.
Football is with 3 new head coaches, Levi Estes in Hanceville, Will McDaniel at Holly Pond and Kevin McCravy at West Point.
Baseball will see 2 new coaches for 2025, Noah Holder at Good Hope and Todd Carter at Holly Pond.
Basketball sees one change as Adam McKinnon will lead the Cold Springs Eagles for the first time.
Girls basketball will get one change, with Emily Willoughby in command of the Vinemont program.
No changes have been reported to GDW in the sports of track, golf and softball.
Kent, Daniels and Cagle will step into the spotlight on July 22 for the Cullman County Schools Fall Sports Media Day.
Estes, McDaniel and McCravy will follow suit in speaking with GDW and other media members of the upcoming 2024 season.
