Local prep volleyball to be busy on opening day:

Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) has the 2024 volleyball season opening on Thursday.
Seven teams covered by Gameday Weekly will be in competition.
Two schools will play at home with plenty of tri match assignments waiting everyone.
Defending Cullman County tournament champion Good Hope rolls out the welcome mat for Holly Pond and Hayden.
Hayden and the Lady Raiders meet at 4:30, Holly Pond and Hayden at 5:30 then Holly Pond in the finale with Good Hope at 6:30 p.m.
The tri matches will be the best of a three game series.
Excitement is high at Vinemont. The Lady Eagles go into 2024 with new coach Bobby Daniels, a preseason Top 10 ranking in the 3A state poll.
Vinemont will host Columbia from Huntsville at 4:30 p.m.
Cullman Christian School is involved in the affair. The Lady Lions face Columbia at 5:30 p.m.. then challenge Vinemont at 6:30 p.m.
For everyone else, the season will be starting away from their campus.
Cold Springs at Locust Fork 4:00 p.m.
Fairview vs. Hatton at 5:00, at West Morgan 6:00 p.m.
West Point vs. Priceville at 5:00, at Arab 6:00 p.m.
Cold Springs now has Kate Peek leading the Lady Eagles while at West Point is former Cullman coach Meagan Cagle.
Cagle's West Point squad is also a preseason Top 10. They are No. 10 in the 5A state rankings that was released last week.
Cullman will open the 2024 season Friday with new coach Amy Hudson in the Juanita Bodie Invitational at the Finley Center in Hoover.
The Lady Bearcats meet Spanish Fort at 5:00 p.m. and play Lewisburg of Mississippi at 7:00 p.m.
Hanceville is on tap to open the season Monday in a tri match at West Point. The Lady Bulldogs will play Cold Springs at 4:00 p.m. and West Point at 5:00 p.m.
St. Bernard will wait until next Thursday for its opener. The Lady Saints will be at No. 1 ranked Addison in area play at 5:00 p.m.
Good Hope and Vinemont are hosting invitational matchups Saturday.
Vinemont is to start its event at 8:30 a.m. with Good Hope to probably begin play at 9:00 a.m.
