GDW local softball report:

Wednesday:
Russellville 13 to 2 over West Point.
Russellville got its first win in 5A, Area 14, preventing West Point from a regular season sweep.
A 7 run 2nd inning by Russellville gave the Golden Tigers a comfortable 8 to 0 lead.
West Point gained a run in the 3rd on a single by Bai McSwain, scoring Courtni Baker who led off with a base hit.
Katie Beth Yovino started the 5th with a single and would scamper home on Brayley Phillips' single with one out.

 West Point is 1 & 4 in area play and is under a three game losing streak.

 

Thursday:
East Lawrence at Good Hope 2:00 (4A, 13)
Locust Fork at Holly Pond 3:30 (3A, 12)
Hanceville at Vinemont 4:30 (3A, 12)
Fairview at Scottsboro 4:30 (5A, 15)
Cold Springs at Meek 4:30

Severe weather is possible for Cullman County with the National Weather Service in Huntsville providing a timeline of 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. for Cullman County and the Tennessee Valley.

 Good Hope leads 4A, area 13 while Vinemont is 5 & 0 vs, 3A, Area 12 opposition.

 Scottsboro sits atop 5A, Area 15 with Fairview paying a visit to play the Lady Wildcats.
