HOOVER: Three very talented local golfers have received a great honor in being chosen to the Alabama Golf Association (AGA) Junior All State Team.
The teams were announced by the AGA Tuesday. This is the 8th year the AGA is recognizing outstanding young golfers from across Alabama.
West Point's Bailey Sutter worked his way to 1st team honors.
Sutter claimed the title in the 79th AGA Junior State championship in June at Twin Lakes Course near Gadsden.
Sutter reached the Sweet 16 of the Junior Amateur at Oakland Hills Country Club in Michigan.
Sutter has committed to play collegiate golf at the University of Alabama after he graduates.
Will Drake of Cullman was 3rd team all state selection. The senior linkster for the Bearcats. Drake was 5th in the summer in the PGA Junior championship and also participated for Team North in the AHSAA All Star Golf series in Montgomery.
Drake has committed to play at Samford University.
Ben Shedd, a teammate of Drake's at Cullman, stood out in the Future Masters in the summer in Dothan and also won the Lee Hodges Junior Classic.
In his last season as a Bearcat, Shedd was 2nd in the AHSAA 6A state championship segment.
Shedd is now enrolled as a student athlete at Jacksonville State University.
