GDW prep football results - Week 3:

Fairview Aggies 48, West Point Warriors 13:
FAIRVIEW: Fairview had things well in hand Friday night with a 28 to 7 lead on West Point after the first quarter.
The Aggies would go up 42 to 7 at the half and 48 to 7 following the 3rd quarter.
Fairview is 2 & 0 on the season and 1 & 0 in AHSAA 5A, Region 7. The Aggies have outscored the opposition 89 to 30 in 2 games.
West Point dropped to 0 & 3 for new coach Kevin McCravy.

Athens Golden Eagles 24, Cullman Bearcats 14:

 Athens visited Mark Britton Field/Oliver Woodard Stadium Friday and moved to 1 & 0 in 6A, Region 7, 3 & 0 for the year.
The Golden Eagles got up 10 to 7 on the 'Cats at the half and went into the 4th with a 17 to 7 lead. Cullman got a late TD pass from Preston Gay, but could not muster a comeback.
Cullman is 1 & 2 and 0 & 1 in the region.

Susan Moore Bulldogs 34, Cold Springs Eagles 20:
COLD SPRINGS: Playing each other for the first time sine 1983, Cold Springs got ahead of the Blount County visitors 14 to 12 when the game reached halftime.
Susan Moore scored twice in the final period with the last TD to give them breathing room in spoiling the Eagles' home opener from Cranford Stricklin Stadium.
The Eagles are 2 & 1 and  0 & 1 in 2A, Region 6.

Phil Campbell Bobcats 44, Vinemont Eagles 42 (4 OT):
PHIL CAMPBELL: A contest that carried into four extra periods in Franklin County.
Phil Campbell got a late score and 2 point conversion to tie the battle at 14 to 14.
Both scored on three consecutive possessions to make it 36 to 36 and for a fourth extra frame needed in this 3A, Region 5 contest.
The difference was two points that Vinemont did not score and fell for the first time this season in three games.

Sylvania Rams 48, Holly Pond Broncos 6:
SYLVANIA: A scoreless first quarter became a runaway for the Rams with six TDs in the 2nd vs. the Broncos and a 41 to 0 lead at the half.
This was the road opener for Will McDaniel's Broncos after they had scored a school record 74 points on 10 touchdowns the Friday before against Hanceville.

 Gordo Green Wave 54, Hanceville Bulldogs 3:
GORDO: No. 2 ranked Gordo was superior in its third straight game at Green Wave Stadium.
Hanceville Bulldogs saw the Wave go ahead 20 to 0 in the first and 47 to 3 at halftime.
Hanceville is 0 & 3 for new coach Levi Estes and 0 & 1 in 3A, Region 5 play.
