Former VB standouts have a happy return, playing at Wallace State:

Redding, Shadix, Patterson shine in Alabama/Mississippi Crossover:

GDW Analysis:
HANCEVILLE: Wallace State volleyball has a traditional event the Lady Lions host in early September.
It's the Alabama vs. Mississippi Crossover. Half of dozen teams from the Alabama Community College Conference are playing schools out of the state of Mississippi this weekend.
It's rewarding as three former standouts at schools in Cullman County are back in town and helping their teams enjoy winning on the Wallace State campus.
Former Fairview Lady Aggie Kabri Redding is now playing at Bevill State.
Ex West Point Lady Warrior Liberty Shadix is with Snead State and former Cullman Bearcat Reese Patterson is playing for Calhoun Community College.
Then add two former Fairview performers in their freshman season at Wallace State. They are Abby McDonald and Ava Calvarese.
Redding and her Bevill State Lady Bears entered the win column for the first time on the 2024 schedule with a 3 to 0 victory over Northeast Mississippi Friday and 3 to 2 against Pearl River Saturday from Tom Drake Coliseum.
Through 9 matches, Redding is 2nd on the Bevill squad in kills with 57, has 32 kills and 178 total attacks.
Gameday Weekly got to see Redding battle hard Friday against Itawamba. Itawamba pulled out a close triumph vs. the Lady Bears, three games to one.
Shadix has been an impact to Snead in her first year in ACCC volleyball. The 2nd of three talented sisters with greatness from West Point has accounted for 33 kills, 11 digs and 88 total attacks.
She is third on the team in kills as Shadix rotates play at the frontline with a talented freshman in former Guntersville Wildcat Tazi Harris.
GDW analyzed Shadix and the Lady Parsons Friday in defeating Northwest Mississippi 3 to 1.
Patterson is listed as a defensive specialist for Calhoun. The former Cullman athlete has contributed 40 digs, 72 receptions and started  in 19 sets.
Calhoun opened the Crossover by beating Meridian 3 to 0 and Northwest Mississippi 3 to 1 Friday.
The Warhawks first match Saturday was 3 to 0 over Northeast Mississippi.
Patterson and Calhoun have 8 wins against 4 losses, entering the final assignment for them on Saturday evening and two to play on Sunday.
Wallace State experienced a rare situation in losing to Itawamba Friday evening 3 games to 2. The first loss for the Lady Lions at the Coliseum in three years.
The Lady Lions regrouped on Saturday in sweeping Jones College and Pearl River 3 to 0.
McDonald has started all 15 matches for coach Randy Daniel at the libero position. Wallace State went into Sunday 10 & 5, the best record in the ACCC and is 1 & 0 in conference play after sweeping Gadsden State on September 4.
McDonald has responded with 114 receptions, 78 digs in showing consistency for getting the ball to those who attack well near the net on the front line.
Calvarese has been in 11 matches, 29 sets, 24 total attacks and 17 digs.
All five of these former county players were very good in their senior season from Cullman, Fairview and West Point with each getting recognized for being selected to the GDW All Performance team.
